Churchill County Parks and Recreation is proud to offer the annual Dust Devil Sprint Triathlon. The event began in 2008 and has been held each August since that time!

The Dust Devil is a sprint triathlon with a 525 Yard Swim, a 14.5 Mile Bike, and a 5K (3.1 Mile) Run.

This triathlon is ideal for beginners! The swim occurs within our own Churchill Aquatics Center which houses a 25 yard pool (no wet suit required!). The bike route travels country roads with significant straight-aways and few turns. The run course is entirely on paved roads through local neighborhoods.

The Swim is indoors and at the Churchill Aquatics Center. Participants will start in 3 waves assigned according to speed. The first wave will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the 2nd and 3rd waves expected to begin at 7:50 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. The Churchill Aquatics Center is a 25-yard pool and the entire swim will be completed in 5-feet deep water where the majority of participants will be able to touch bottom as desired. 21 lengths of the pool will be completed.

The bike route travels rural roads with some stop signs. Participants are expected to follow all traffic regulations included stopping at any sign that does not have traffic controls provided by the race. All roads remain open throughout the event and participants should be mindful of vehicular traffic and ride accordingly.

The run crosses one major intersection and participants may be required to stop and wait for traffic. Volunteers and Search and Rescue will be on site to assist with traffic monitoring. Participants should be aware of traffic throughout the event and be safe.
