Welcome Letter
Welcome to the Churchill County website! The pages on this site will provide you with information about our oasis community, as well as the various county departments and their functions.
Churchill County is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. We pride ourselves on having a very business-friendly government that is open and accessible. Our staff members are service-oriented and friendly. Naval Air Station Fallon, agriculture, and abundant geothermal resources provide for an extremely stable economy when coupled with our fiscal responsibility. Churchill County is the home of the Navy's Fighter Weapons School, or "Top Gun" and Kennametal, a leader in international metals technology. Our county is 100% "green" and exports approximately 300 MW of green energy. We are a major dairy, beef, and produce exporter. Churchill County is a leader in the state and works cooperatively with other local governmental and civic agencies.
Churchill County has a very successful Transfer of Development Rights/Agricultural Land Conservation Program, which promotes agriculture, open space and compatibility with military operations. This program is a model for other areas throughout the United States. We also have two local conservation districts, the Lahontan Conservation District and the Stillwater Conservation District. We have a very successful and cooperative relationship with Naval Air Station Fallon and wholeheartedly support military training operations.
We strive to make this website a place where citizens can conduct business and perform research from the comfort of their own homes or offices. This expands our citizens' access to county services beyond regular office hours. You can access the Churchill County Code, read the Master Plan (PDF) for planning and development, view property data and parcel maps, find out about county job openings and download application materials, view Agendas or archived minutes from County Commissioner meetings, see what is happening through the Parks & Recreation Department, and a host of other tasks.
In the end, it is our goal to make Churchill County government more accessible and responsive to the needs of our constituents and to those seeking information about us. Should you have any questions or require further information, please free to contact us. We strive to respond to your inquiry in a timely manner.
Regards,
Pete Olsen, Chair
Churchill County Board of Commissioners
