With warm weather upon us, it is the perfect time to grab a book and settle under a tree…or in front of your air conditioning unit! The library will be closed on July 4 to observe Independence Day.

Learn-to-fly-a-drone workshop happening on July 5 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Teen graphic novel workshop on July 6 at 2 p.m. Teens can learn about and experiment with different professional art supplies in this workshop hosted by award-winning illustrator Minnie Pham.
Drop-in 3D printing workshops take place July 12 and 26 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Using the library’s 3D printer, make objects, both useful and fun, and learn more about this popular technology.
Senator Rosen’s office representative holds open hours at the library on July 13 at 1 p.m.
Touch-A-Truck event on July 13 at 2 p.m. Bring the whole family out to see, touch and learn about the coolest crime-fighting vehicles with the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office.
Reading with Rover takes place on July 13 at 3:30 p.m. Children can practice their reading to a very forgiving and patient audience of therapy dogs.
Learn the old ways of gaming at the retro gaming session on July 19 at 3:30 p.m.

Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival performers stop by the library on July 28 at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate the end of the summer reading program with a presentation for all ages.
Ongoing Programs
“1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” encourages youngsters to read age-appropriate books before entering school. Book titles are suggested and offered by library staff. Recognition given for every 100 books read on the way to 1,000! Sign-ups accepted at any time.
Tuesdays
The Knitting Club meets at 10 a.m. on July 18 and 25 and welcomes both novice and advanced knitters. They are willing to offer advice and tips and offer encouragement on your project.
Virtual Reality drop-in sessions take place on July 11, 18, 25 from 3:15 to 5 p.m. All welcome to stop by!
The Writer’s Group meets at 5 p.m. and welcomes you to discover what area writers are inspired by and working on. Bring your own manuscript to add a few paragraphs.
Wednesdays
In-person children’s story time at 11 a.m. Children’s Librarian Miss J reads picture books to children. Each session is recorded and posted to the library’s YouTube account for on-demand viewing at your convenience.
Thursdays
Children’s story time at 10 and 11 a.m. (except on July 13) and Knitting Club meets again at 4 p.m.
Fridays
STEAM sessions with VR are on Fridays from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Have a problem with your computer or smartphone? Head over the William N. Pennington Life Center on Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m. and get answers from Technical Services Librarian Joe Salsman, an expert in all things technology!

Library hours of operation are Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed on Sundays and major holidays.
