Churchill County’s Rafter 3C Arena plays host to a back-to-school kick-off event for Churchill County High School students and families on August 10 at 6 p.m.
This celebratory event is designed to open the new school year, recognize community partnerships, and give students a competitive advantage. It seeks to provide students with an opportunity to celebrate everything that makes CCHS a great place to set oneself up for a successful future, build relationships with colleges and businesses, and mingle with CCHS staff.
Those attending can enjoy free barbecue and ice cream. Booths representing CCHS clubs, departments, CTE classes; Nevada colleges and trade schools, and local businesses offering internships and employment will be set up for students and family to explore and interact with during the evening.
Local participating organizations include: CEDA, Jensen Construction, TMCC, UNR’s College of Science, College of Liberal Arts, School of Social Work, and School of Public Health; The Fallon Post, UNLV, Reno Technology Trade School. Veterans Working Warrier, CCHS Health Occupations, WNC, Great Basin College, New Millennium Business Systems, Employ Nevada, military recruiters, High Desert Grange, Banner Health, Career College of Northern Nevada, Nevada Gold Mines, Dairy Council, Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe, Churchill County 4-H, A& K Construction, Sheriff’s Department, NAS Fallon and Ormat among others.
Event organizers offer a shout-out to Model Dairy for the ice cream donation and New Millennium for the barbecue meal.
